There’s something truly special about developing film and being in the darkroom. For me, it happened in community college. I remember the anticipation as I submerged the photo paper in the developer solution, my heart fluttered with excitement. And then, magically, the images began to appear. It was mesmerizing—watching the black-and-white come to life in the chemical bath.

That moment solidified my love for film photography.

Film development, in my view, is an art form. The process requires patience and precision. Unlike digital photography, where results are instant, film forces you to slow down, to think about each shot, and trust the process. The hands-on experience of loading and unloading the film, developing negatives - I find very methodical and ritualistic.

Hicks Film Studio embraces the beauty of traditional film development. Whether you're a seasoned photographer or just starting your journey with 35mm or 120 film, the services offered include high-quality developing and scanning to help bring your images to life. Analog photography isn’t just nostalgia—it’s a craft, a discipline, and a way to connect with the historical roots of photography.

If you’ve ever been curious about shooting film - there's no better time to start! And if not knowing where to have them developed has been holding you back - then you're in luck! Let Hicks Film Studio guide you through the world of film photography, where every frame tells a story, and every development session feels like a little bit of magic.

*Fun Tip: If you leave film in the camera for a while, it will have a silvery effect when the you finally develop.
